Village of Nampa
Potable Water Reservoir Expansion
Project Description
NEW water Limited owns and operates a regional water system that provides potable water to several communities throughout Northern Sunrise County, including the Village of Nampa. The existing water storage of the Nampa facility included two main reservoir cells: the reservoir part of the original water treatment plant, and the 1st reservoir expansion which was added as part of the water treatment plant upgrades when a clarifier was added. The original reservoir is well over 40 years old.
Due to growth in the community, additional storage capacity was required to meet peak demands and maintain fire flow storage. M2 Engineering evaluated water demands and fire flow storage requirements and worked with the Village and County to determine the appropriate storage volume.
M2 Engineering designed a 1,000 m3 reservoir addition, comprising two cells, for the Village’s distribution system. The design included modifications to the existing reservoir fill system including a fill mixing system to reduce stagnant water concerns for low flow periods.
Construction of the reservoir expansion is complete, and the additional potable water storage has been online since October 2018.
